Barry Kooda is a fixture in the Dallas Punk Rock scene. His band the Nervebreakers opened up for the Sex Pistols legendary show in Dallas. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! was Barry’s melodic straight ahead rock and roll venture. With Clint Phillips on drums (from the Agitators) and Paul Ore on bass, Barry’ s honky tonk guitar style was starting to develop. Barry had a space around the corner from Direct Hit so we saw each other daily in the “hood”, and during this time Barry was grooving on finding fossils which began to translate into this primitive art experiment, hence the cover for the 7”. Barry would take slabs of slate and would carve out these drawings. We actually had an art showing in the store for Barry’s rock art. Also, in our ‘hood’ was the Bar of Soap, a cool venue which would have Sunday afternoon barbeques with a different local band supplying the music. This pixs here show the YYY’s doing what they did best, ROCK OUT.
