A Simpletons Dream
but listen to this stuff. Raw and more
Raw. These guys blaze the garage blues
sound all the way home. Joe Jarvis the
singer for this group and was a regular at
the Direct Hit store, man did he have
good taste in music with merely his
selection in records, I had to know this
guy. Joe is Joe, one of the best darn
down to earth guys you ever want to meet
– would literally give his shirt off his back
if you asked him. So when Joe brought
me a tape of his band – I couldn’t wait to
help out and get this stuff pressed. Just
think if I would have had more money to
sink into this band, they would be in outer
space today. Check out their 2nd 7”
release – and then the morphing into the
Moodswings … all Joe driven. Joe was an
integral part of Direct Hit, not only with his
bands but with all the label goin ons …
stuffin records, mailing (nothing like sittin
around on a Saturday afternoon cutting
up card board for mailers) – I’m telling you
Direct Hit was homegrown. Who did I call
when my ex-husband got hauled in when
he was driving back from a gig in Austin
with the Stingrays – I wake Joe up –
borrow money from him -- he stays with
the babies, while I go post bail. That’s the
kind of guy Joe was – I talk like he’s dead,
but actually I just lost contact when I
moved to SF. So if anyone runs into him
– tell him to drop me a line.
No further adieu, the rest of the rockin
ASD membership included these fine
gentlemen ...
Mark Upton... guitar player...and main
songwriter...(along with Joe)... as you can
tell by the tunes this dynamic duo had raw
blastin mojo ... Last I heard he was
moving to Denver with his wife...(I don't
think Mark ever really knew how good of a
tunemeister he was..)
George K ... keepin up the rhythm with his
straight ahead guitar, laying licks that
kept the ASD machine rockin and on track
with Dwayne & Dale
Dwayne T Bates...Bass Player and Action
Swinger...Happily (I m guessing on this
part) married with one child I know of and
living the suburbia life in Flower Mound...
Dale Kendall...the best musician in ASD...
also one of the most "off the radar"
drummers in Dallas...He's simply
awesome...He plays in a band called
Carnal Circus...www.carnalcircus.com with
Paul who was the guitar player in the
Moodswings...
They have a great live show and ROCK...
YES THEY ROCK...with all the crap that is
out today....they Rock with attitude and a
punk stance...it's always refreshing to see
them...they have a strong bass player ...
they ALWAYS deliver the goods...
